CONCORD NAVAL WEAPONS STATION NEWS
The proposed 13,000 new homes in the CNWS would be the largest single
development in Alameda and Contra Costa County. Two opportunities for public
input have been announced: the DRAFT EIR for CONCORD 2030 GENERAL PLAN and the
CONCORD REUSE PROJECT UPDATE
Concord's website states that "The Reuse Plan will fall within the framework
for
land use established by the General Plan, but ultimately will be prepared based
on community input and analysis of the highest and best uses for the base."
I
have asked the City for clarification on why the public review period for the
General Plan DEIR ends before the "Reuse Project" begins - I'll pass
that
information along when I get it.
* DRAFT EIR for CONCORD 2030 GENERAL PLAN
The Draft General Plan specifies land use within the entire City of Concord.
It
slices up the CNWS pie, establishing parentages of land in each land use
category. The public review period is Jan 20 through March 6, 2006.
For more information visit the City's website at ww.ci.concord.ca.us The DEIR
is
available to view at the City if Concord, 1950 Parkside Drvie, Building D -
Permit Center and at the Concord Public Library 2900 Salvio St.
You can purchase it on CD for $5, or download it from the web (but note that
some files are very large and difficult to download with a low speed internet
connection)
