Saturday, Sept 24 2005 GPS Survey of Mt Diablo Creek - 2nd day
We're pleased to cooperate with Contra Costa County again to survey another stretch of Mt Diablo Creek. We will use hand-held GPS units to records our observations of habitat conditions, such as bank materials and streamside plants. This effort is part of a county-wide creek mapping program that provides baseline data and helps volunteers plan restoration projects. Starting from the point where we left off last year in Clayton, we'll walk downstream in the creek channel. We hope to get all the way to Kirker Pass Road this year!
We would love to have your help! If you have not participated in the County's GPS Survey program before, you MUST attend the training on August 24. If you helped us last year you don't have to attend the training but we do need you to RSVP for one or both dates so we can build our surveying teams and let you know the details. Jessica Hamburger, Mt Diablo Ck Watershed Coordinator at the CCRCD, is the lead survey organizer this year.
